dc.description.abstractThis study examines the role of reverse logistics (RL) practices in mitigating environmental impact and promoting sustainability objectives. The study combines the most important themes, including RL, waste management, lifecycle assessment, and sustainable supply chain management, with the help of a bibliometric analysis methodology supplemented by bibliometric mapping with the VOS viewer application. The review presents fundamental clusters with a focus on the environmental and economic benefits of RL, including resource conservation, waste minimization, and the adoption of a circular economy. The study also examines obstacles to implementation and outlines how organizational commitment and policy support can help address these obstacles. Results highlight RL as a business concept that is strategic, facilitates sustainability, better operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This study recommends further studies of the social aspect, the long-term effects, and the technological enablers to present a comprehensive picture of the influence of RL on environmental sustainability. Furthermore, future researchers can explore the factors influencing RL practices across different industries, countries, or geographical regions, which would practically validate and enrich the insights derived from this review.
